While the shining and glittering presence of numerous celebrities perked up the excitements for the event, the 2015 Festival Jury Committee was also at the center of discussion with celebrities like – Arshad Khan, Michael Barry, Sara Saljoughi and Steven Hoffner.
This year (2015), the 3rd Annual celebratory festival was held during the first week of June and it was the most promising than the previous two years with variety of film programs, recognition and award ceremonies, parties, exhibition, industry meetings and of course, films.
The entire schedule of the festival was for 15 films that were shown in 7 different multiplexes across the city. Searching for Nepal, The Trip, Brides, Life is just a file, The Transmission, Pollock, Now I see, Hydro the film, Emergency exit – Young Italians abroad, Fatherhood, Five Star, Jacky in the kingdom of women, Samsara, Living stars, The Truman show were the nominated films for the festival.
So many films have been able to leave an impact on the audience and that’s where the success of such film festivals is actually found. The entire film festival is organized and arranged by volunteer-driven organization led by arts and culture professionals and aficionados. This is a unique approach, merely seen in any other part of the world, to bring the culture of different people together and the Scarborough Film Festival has been successfully bridging the culture of primly Scarborough and downtown Toronto. In a way, this film festival is actually filling up an important gap in alternative programming, education, entertainment and cultural enhancement for East York and Scarborough by means of the art of films.
